ALLENTOWN, Pa. – Pennsylvania State Police say an SUV rolled over in Allentown Friday morning after a police pursuit.

It happened just after 2:30 a.m. on East Clay Street and North Irving Street.

Troopers tried to make a traffic stop on the SUV in Hanover Township, Lehigh County around 2:40 a.m., according to a news release from state police. After a trooper activated the patrol vehicle’s lights and siren, the SUV fled south on Airport Road and continued onto North Irving Street in Allentown, state police said.

State police say the fleeing vehicle crashed and rolled over on the properties of two homes on North Irving Street.

Troopers gave medical assistance to the driver, a 51-year-old Bethlehem man, after the crash, state police said in the news release. The man was treated at the scene and taken to a local hospital for his injuries, according to state police.

North Irving Street was closed from Union Boulevard to East Cedar Street for the investigation. The roadway was reopened after 7:35 a.m.
