The Lehigh Valley could get some rain Friday night before a largely dry weekend.

Rain, albeit light, is expected to spread across the region that night into Saturday morning, the National Weather Service in Mount Holly, New Jersey, said. It should clear up by Saturday morning, according to forecasters.

About a quarter of an inch of rain is expected.

The anticipated light rain Friday is coming during a dry period for the Lehigh Valley. As of Thursday, only .89 inches of rain has fallen the entire month in the region, which is more than an inch below normal. The region has had below-normal rainfall the past few months, according to weather service data.

Lehigh and Northampton counties have gotten about 19 inches of rain the past six months, roughly 6 inches below normal, that data states. The majority of the region is under moderate drought conditions, according to the U.S. Drought Monitor.

The rest of the weekend should be clear with highs in the 50s. There could be rain again Tuesday.
