Nov. 20, 2025 is the 17th annual of Children’s Grief Awareness Day for Highmark Caring Place.
This year’s theme is “Champions of Hope.”
A champion of hope is someone who offers comfort, encouragement and provides a safe space during difficult times for grieving children.
Program Manager Kristie Nosich stated, “Oftentimes, children feel that they’re alone in their grief. They feel that they can’t talk about the person that they love; they’re afraid to talk about it, and, so, today is a day to let them know that there are a lot of people in the community that love them, that care for them, that understand their grief and want to be there to support them through it.”
Children’s Grief Awareness Day is observed internationally, annually, on the third Thursday of November.
