The Pirates have agreed with Jack Suwinski on a one-year deal worth $1.25 million to avoid arbitration ahead of tomorrow’s non-tender deadline, per source. They have also agreed on a one-year contract worth $825,000 with Yohan Ramirez to avoid arbitration.

Suwinski, 27, seemed like a non-tender candidate after hitting just .147 with a .534 OPS, three home runs and 10 RBIs over 59 games with the Pirates this past season. His salary projection was $1.7 million, according to MLB Trade Rumors.

Over the last two seasons since he hit 26 home runs and drove in 74 runs in 2023, Suwinski has batted just .169 with a .568 OPS in 147 games. He has hit just 12 home runs and struck out 136 times in 397 at-bats during that span.

It’s really all or nothing for Suwinski, who is out of minor-league options and will look to make the opening day roster out of spring training.

Ramirez, 30, went 3-3 with a 5.40 ERA and struck out 45 batters while walking 16 in 33 1/3 innings over 24 appearances with the Pirates this season. His salary projection was $1.2 million.
