Barbara A. Garl
OBITUARY
Barbara A. Garl, 90, of Reading, passed away Wednesday, November 19th, in her residence.
Barbara was born in Reading, on May 21, 1935, a daughter of the late Mabel (Kolb) Latchford and William Thompson.
She was the widower of Donald R. Garl. Mr. Garl died January 19, 2015.
Barbara was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Reading. She worked for Western Electric (AT&T) for 30 years, retiring in 1987. Barbara was a volunteer during her working years, for the Western Electric “Laurel Funatics”. Performing as COTTON CANDY, the clown with her famous Blue Hair, as well as many other local non profits. Barbara ran many bus trips over the years to the Pennsylvania Christmas and Gift Show, entertaining her guests on the bus with her famous jokes. She enjoyed her retirement years working part time making soft pretzels at the farmers market; she loved to baked pumpkin rolls, and cookies. Her favorite pastime was playing bingo and loved to play poker with her girlfriends.
Barbara is survived by
two daughters, Andrea J., wife of Anthony Armo and Cherie A., widow of Mark Weidner.
She is also survived by 3 grandchildren: Melissa C. Armo, Stacey L. Zatorski, (Armo), wife of Michael and Heather C. Calpino (Weidner), wife of Anthony and 3 great grandchildren: Emily V. Zatorski, Anthony W. Zatorski and AJ Calpino.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, November 24th at Sanders Funeral Home & Cremation Services Inc., 1501 North 11th, Reading. Friends may call from 10:00-11:00 AM from the funeral home.
