After over 20 years of volunteer service, a school board member is saying goodbye. Nick Mobilia was first elected to the North East School Board in 1988.
During his service, the district built a new elementary center, a new middle school, completed a $3.58 million turf upgrade at Ted Miller Stadium, and oversaw the hiring of four superintendents.
And tonight, Mobilia shares his thoughts on the last 28 years.
“I’ll tell you what, it was a good ride. North East School District is a great place. You know, all education has a tough time ahead of them, and we’ll be successful by working together.” said Mobilla, “And that was, I think, my biggest role—bringing people together. Okay, they say ‘you’re a great leader.’ No, a great leader just brings people together and leads together, and that’s what we did in North East.”
Although he is retiring, Mobilia is still planning on helping with his family businesses and the Farm Bureau, in addition to spending time with his family.
