BENSALEM TOWNSHIP, PA — Horse racing fans in the Philadelphia region have two events where millions in prize money are up for grabs at Parx Racing.
Parx Racing is holding PA Day at the Races on Friday to spotlight Pennsylvania’s robust breeding industry with a day of thoroughbred stakes races featuring only Pennsylvania-bred horses.
Pennsylvania Derby Day on Saturday marks the state’s biggest day of thoroughbred racing with $3.2 million in purse money across 15 races, including two Grade 1 stakes races: the Pennsylvania Derby and Cotillion.
Both events will take place at Parx Racing at Parx Casino, located at 3001 Street Road.

Saturday, Sept. 20Gates Open: 10 a.m.First Post: 11:05 a.m.Features two of the biggest races of the year: the Grade 1 $1,000,000 Pennsylvania Derby and Grade 1 $1,000,000 Cotillion, among others. Family fun will include pony rides, face painting, and moon bouncesLive music from Fish Out of Water and the Uptown String Band. Free hats will be provided to attendees on a first-come, first-served basis. NBC Sports Philadelphia will broadcast Pennsylvania Derby Day from 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m.
The Pennsylvania Horse Racing Association will have a booth stocked with giveaways and exclusive merchandise at both events.
