Bomb threats at US Rep. Chris Deluzio’s offices in Western Pennsylvania
SHANNON. ANDREW. WELL, WE KNOW MULTIPLE LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCIES ARE HERE ON SCENE. I’LL STEP TO THE SIDE AND GIVE YOU A LOOK AT WHAT’S HAPPENING OUTSIDE OF HIS CARNEGIE OFFICE. STATE POLICE, CARNEGIE POLICE AND ALLEGHENY COUNTY POLICE ALL HERE. NOW, THE CONGRESSMAN, SPOKESPERSON CONFIRMS TO PITTSBURGH’S ACTION NEWS FOUR. BOTH THE CARNEGIE AND BEAVER COUNTY OFFICES WERE TARGETS OF BOMB THREATS THIS AFTERNOON, ACCORDING TO HIS SPOKESPERSON, DELUZIO AND ALL CONGRESSIONAL STAFF ARE SAFE. THIS COMES ONE DAY AFTER DELUZIO CONDEMNED POLITICAL VIOLENCE AND CALLED OUT PRESIDENT DONALD TRUMP FOR A SERIES OF TWEETS AIMED AT THE PA REPRESENTATIVE AND FIVE LAWMAKERS. THE GROUP OF SIX DEMOCRATS POSTED A VIDEO STATEMENT TO SOCIAL MEDIA THIS WEEK, DIRECTING SERVICE MEMBERS TO REFUSE ILLEGAL ORDERS. NOW, THE PRESIDENT RESPONDED TO THE VIDEO ON SOCIAL MEDIA, SAYING THE ACTIONS WERE, QUOTE, PUNISHABLE BY DEATH. ANOTHER POST SUGGESTED THE LAWMAKERS SHOULD BE, QUOTE, ARRESTED. The district offices of U.S. Rep. Chris Deluzio in Carnegie and Beaver County were targeted by bomb threats Friday, a spokesperson for the Democratic congressman said.Deluzio and all congressional staff are safe, spokesperson Zoe Bluffstone said.Pittsburgh’s Action News 4 video showed a large police presence that included state troopers and local officers outside Deluzio’s office at the Carnegie Office Park on Bell Avenue. Carnegie police said the threat came in an email.The Allegheny County Police Department’s Explosive Ordnance Disposal team responded to the Carnegie office. A county police spokesperson said the team swept the area, found “nothing of note” and gave the all clear just before 5:30 p.m.This comes just one day after President Donald Trump made a series of social media posts calling the actions of Deluzio and five other Democratic Congress members “seditious behavior, punishable by death!” It was in response to a video statement from the lawmakers telling military members they can refuse illegal military orders.This is a developing story.
