BENSALEM TOWNSHIP, PA — An 84-year-old man was struck and killed by a car while walking across Brownsville Road on Friday night, police said.

Bensalem Police found the man lying in the road with “significant head injuries” and no vital signs on Brownsville Road near the intersection of Oak Avenue.

The man was identified as Martin Thompson, 84, of Oak Avenue in Trevose. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver remained on the scene, police said.

Police said the man was crossing Brownsville Road mid-block when a dark blue Porsche approached the intersection of Oak Avenue in the northbound lane.

Another vehicle was turning left from Oak Avenue onto southbound Brownsville Road and
obstructed the view of the driver. The driver of the Porsche did not see the pedestrian in the
roadway and subsequently struck him in the northbound lane.

At this time, there is no indication that the driver of the striking vehicle was under the influence of drugs or alcohol, and speed does not appear to be a factor, police said.

Bensalem Police ask anyone who witnessed the crash or has relevant video footage to call the police department at 215-633-3719.
