An 84-year-old Trevose man died Friday evening after being struck by a vehicle while crossing Brownsville Road.
Martin Thompson, of Oak Avenue, was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency medical personnel shortly after the 6:20 p.m. incident, according to Bensalem Township police.
Police said they responded to a 9-1-1 call reporting a crash involving a vehicle and a pedestrian near the intersection of Brownsville Road and Oak Avenue.
Responding officers found Thompson in the roadway with significant head injuries and no vital signs.
A preliminary police investigation found that Thompson was crossing Brownsville Road mid-block when he was struck by a dark blue Porsche traveling northbound, police said.
Police reported that the view of the Porsche driver, who remained at the scene, was obstructed by another vehicle that was turning left from Oak Avenue onto southbound Brownsville Road.
The driver of the Porsche did not see the pedestrian in the roadway, police said.
Authorities said they do not believe speed was a factor in the crash, and there is no indication that the driver was under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
Bensalem Township police are asking anyone who witnessed the crash or has relevant video footage to contact the department at 215-633-3719.
