Wicked: For Good debuted in theaters across the world this weekend and several small businesses got into the wicked spirit with lots of themed activities and menu items, including The Cork 1794 in West Erie Plaza.
Customers could step into the world of Oz all weekend long.
Kierra Normandy said, “Super fun. They are always decorated so cute. We get a nice bite to eat, some fun drinks and yeah, we love it here.”
Sisters Kierra and Carmella had a girl’s day out and went to The Cork 1794 to celebrate the premiere of Wicked: For Good.
“We watched the first wicked together and we were trying to spend a little sister time together, so we decided to come here”, said Normandy.
Management at The Cork 1794 pulled out all the spots for wickedly good time.
Greg Jones, the General Manager said, “We both love Wicked and when the first Wicked came out we did a tasting menu. What a better way to celebrate with everyone wanting to come out than with the movie than to have a little bit of glitter and shine here.”
Staff created a variety of drinks and menu items for customers to taste all weekend long.
“We did the French toast and the Belgium waffle and and then we also did the breakfast sandwich”, said Normandy.
Customers also got into the theme of Wicked by dressing up as their favorite characters or wearing their favorite merchandise in honor of the movie.
Staff said hosting these kinds of theme events expands their reach of customers.
According to Jones, “We are a dinner restaurant, so we are used to a lot of adults and happy hours. But this is for the kids and the extended family, so if you love us for dinner, it’s an opportunity to bring in everyone.”
Through the weekend, staff said they received great feedback from new and returning customers.
Amanda Boyer, the Assistant General Manager said, “Both days have been sold out, everyone has been really loving it. Yesterday we had characters and all the little kids loved it and it’s been a huge hit both days.”
The fun with The Cork 1794 continues into the Christmas season. They have Reindeer on the patio on Black Friday and they have Breakfast with Santa coming up in December.
