United Way of Berks County has again exceeded its campaign goal, raising more than $11 million in donations this year.
United Way officials revealed the 2025 campaign total surpassed its goal of $10.75 million at the nonprofit’s annual victory celebration at the Redner’s Event Center at FirstEnergy Stadium in Reading.
“What an amazing journey this has been,” campaign co-chairs Angel and Scott Helm said at the celebration Thursday. “We have met and worked with the best people in our community. All are driven by a strong community spirit and the desire to improve people’s lives.”
United Way officials thanked donors for their support.
“2025 has been an exciting year, as we’ve celebrated United Way’s 100th anniversary,” said Joni Naugle, the nonprofit’s board chair. “We are deeply grateful to each of you for your commitment to carrying our work forward.”
All money raised will support health and human service needs in the coming year, impacting 190,000 local people, United Way said in a release.
The organization’s 80-plus programs, initiatives and grants tackle issues like school readiness, reading proficiency, financial stability, and helping people meet food and health needs.
Those initiatives include vital programs like Meals on Wheels, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Safe Berks and United Way’s 211 phone line that connects residents seeking help with community services.
Some lucky donors also walked away from the celebration as winners of campaign incentives, including Eric Wilson of Fromm Electric Supply Co., who won a brand new Toyota Corolla Cross, courtesy of Kelly Toyota Hamburg, Live United partners and premier sponsors.
