Nov. 24 (UPI) — An animal rescue group in Pennsylvania announced it has located and freed a fox seen wandering with a plastic drainage pipe stuck around its neck since October.

Good Boy Dog Recovery said the red fox was first seen with the pipe stuck around its neck in October, and rescuers had been searching for the animal in the Broomall, Delaware County, area ever since.

The fox, nicknamed Sly by rescuers, was finally captured Saturday evening.

The animal was taken to Pocono Wildlife Rehabilitation and Education Center, which reported the fox — renamed Lady Sly after being found to be female — “was a very cooperative patient” and allowed the pipe to be cut away from her neck without the need for sedation.

Lady Sly was vaccinated for rabies and distemper and was returned to the wild on the same day as her capture.
