BIRDSBORO, Pa. – A new destination for tacos, tostadas and tropical margaritas is welcoming customers in Berks County.
La Familia Mexican Restaurant & Bar, offering authentic Mexican cuisine, held a grand opening on Nov. 23 at 200 W. First St. in Birdsboro.

La Familia offers appetizers such as chicken wings, guacamole with chips and crispy chicken rolled tortillas; burritos such as chicken, chorizo and cecina-beef; and quesadillas such as birria, shrimp and al pastor.

Other menu highlights include enchiladas such as chicken and cheese; tortas (Mexican bread sandwiches) such as carne asada and chicken cutlets; and street tacos (served with cilantro, onions and side of salsa) such as birria, al pastor, chicken and carnitas.
Diners also can enjoy freshly prepared fajitas, including chicken, steak, shrimp, veggie and various combo options. Fajitas are grilled with bell peppers and onions and served with rice, refried black beans, guacamole, sour cream and four tortillas.

La Familia features a full bar, with a variety of beers, wines and classic and signature cocktails such as a bay breeze, mai tai, mojito, paloma, Bahama Mama and wide array of margaritas, along with desserts such as Dubai crepes, deep-fried Oreos, Nutella churros and Nutella funnel cake.
Guests also can enjoy acai bowls (also available as smoothies) such as the “Tropical” (acai, strawberry, granola, banana, pineapple, blueberry and honey).
Additionally, the restaurant serves up a variety of breakfast options, including pancakes, French toast, 2 eggs any style (with optional meat), breakfast sandwiches (two eggs, Oaxaca cheese, guacamole, black beans and optional meat) and omelets such as chorizo and chicken fajita.
