The Erie Otters acquired former Central Cambria High School student Kase Kamzik in an Ontario Hockey League trade with the Sarnia Sting.
Kamzik, who also skated with the NAHL Johnstown Tomahawks in exhibition play, is a 6-foot-2 forward. The Sting selected him in the eighth round in the 2025 OHL draft. In 19 games with Sarnia, Kamzik had a goal and four assists for five points.
“We’re excited to welcome Kase Kamzik to the Erie Otters family,” Otters General Manager Dave Brown said in a statement. “As a Johnstown native, Kase already understands the pride and passion of our region, and we’re looking forward to seeing him grow within our program.”
The Otters traded former No. 10 overall draft selection Tyler Challenger to Sarnia for Kamzik, who is 17 years old. In 86 career games, Challenger had seven goals and 12 points.
A Miami (Ohio) recruit, Kamzik totaled 59 points in 50 games with the Pittsburgh Penguins 16U AAA program during the 2024-25 season, including 26 goals. He also appeared in one game with the Sioux City Musketeers in the USHL.
He supplied 21 goals and 45 points in 69 games with the Bishop Kearney Selects 15U AAA (Rochester, New York) team in 2023-24 after playing his freshman year at Central Cambria (14 goals, nine assists and 23 points in 11 games in 2022-23).
In 63 games with the Pittsburgh Penguins Elite 14U in 2022-23, Kamzik totaled 18 goals and 51 points.
