BETHLEHEM, Pa. – It’s a holiday tradition that brings the whole community together. And this year, the skaters are ready to shine!
69 News Reporter Sydney Kay has the story from the Steel Ice Center in Bethlehem where finishing touches are being made on its annual skating holiday show.
Angela Roesch-Davis, the rink’s Skating Director and General Manager, said the kids participating in the show get up early and stay late to practice.
The show will take place Sunday from 4 p.m. to around 5:30 to 6 p.m., she said.
She said the show will start with some younger skaters followed by some special guests: Mr. and Mrs. Claus, who will also be skating at the show!
She said the show features skaters of all ages and abilities.
The rink has public skating every day throughout the holidays.
Blair Rockwell, a young skater with the Penguin Figure Skating Club who will be performing at the Sunday show, said she will skate to music: “Believe” from the Polar Express. She said she practiced three to four times a day when she first starts rehearsing for the show.
The week before the show, the skaters participate in a dress rehearsal. She said she loves being on the ice, and jumping and spinning.
She said she looks forward to hanging out with and cheering for her friends.
Skater Sasha Shoenberger said learning new things is what she enjoys about skating.
Young skater Leia Elzomor said she’ll be performing to “You’re a Mean One, Mr. Grinch” by Lindsey Stirling. She said she’s been practicing for three weeks.
