BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Bethlehem Police Department is giving back to the community in a different way Tuesday, serving up an early Thanksgiving dinner at New Bethany Ministries.

Some of the officers who were there Tuesday were cooking since around 1:30 a.m.

They organize the event every year to make sure everybody in Bethlehem gets a real Thanksgiving meal.

Starting at 10:30 a.m., they were serving up turkey, ham, green beans, potatoes, and gravy. And the meal even featured dozens of pies cooked up by students at Broughal Middle School.

Officer William Rodriguez says it’s a meal they’ve been organizing at New Bethany every year since 2016.

“There’s a lot of coordination here, but with everybody’s help and everybody putting forth effort, it makes it really easy,” Rodriguez said.

Rodriguez says several companies and organizations also provide the food and supplies to make the meal possible.

The people who receive the meals tell us this is something they look forward to every year.
