United Way of Erie County is teaming up with Lake Erie Wine Country and United Way of Southern Chautauqua County (NY) for the inaugural Gift of Giving Winter Collection Drive, aimed at keeping local families warm this holiday season.
From Nov. 28 through Dec. 15, more than 20 Lake Erie Wine Country wineries will collect new winter items for neighbors in need. Donations gathered in Erie County will be distributed through United Way’s Community Schools, ensuring students and families have essential cold-weather gear.
How it works, visitors who donate a new winter item at participating wineries will receive a complimentary wine tasting. A full list of wineries and details is available at lakeeriewinecountry.org. All donations stay local and benefit the communities where they are collected.
What to Donate:
Gloves and mittens
Winter hats
Scarves
Socks
Boots
Coats/Jackets
United Way of Erie County’s Community Schools Model serves over 10,500 students in 17 schools across four districts, providing resources to remove non-academic barriers to success. Donations from the Gift of Giving drive will help families stay warm and supported this winter.
Lake Erie Wine Country Executive Director Eric LeBlanc said, “Our wineries are part of the fabric of this region, and supporting our neighbors is deeply important to us. The Gift of Giving initiative allows visitors to enjoy the beauty of our wine trail while making a meaningful impact.”
