Be thankful for Joe Biden
Editor: Thoughts on the recent 83rd birthday of President Joseph Biden on Nov. 20 and Thanksgiving. We, Democrats and Republicans, Independents of Northeastern Pennsylvania, should be so very proud and grateful that the city of Scranton produced a president of the United States of America. Our roots run deep in and through him. His values, his leadership and his compassion reflect his foundation in this region, a foundation that still exists among our population: a sense of community, a solid education, the importance of honesty, the support of good friends, of family and of faith. Throughout the past year, this man demonstrated he is in tune with the tides of our American democracy and, as they say, knew when to “fold ‘em.” Another lesson all of us need to recognize, as term limits are being discussed, as a new generation arises to take leadership within our democracy and among organizations and corporations.
Let us reflect with gratitude upon what this fine man has accomplished in his long career, remembering his origins with pride, remembering and celebrating how he reflects who we are and how he is one of us.
