The Florida Panthers (12-9-1) and the Philadelphia Flyers (11-7-3) will quickly finish off their season series tonight, with the winner taking it, at Amerant Bank Arena as the Cats open a key six-game homestand.
Florida bounced back from a disappointing home loss to Edmonton over the weekend by laying waste to the Nashville Predators by an 8-3 count at Bridgestone Arena on Monday. The game saw six Panthers deliver multi-point performances. Those players were A.J. Greer (2G/1), Sam Reinhart (1G/2A), Carter Verhaeghe (1G/2A), Evan Rodrigues (1G/1A), Gustav Forsling (1G/1A) and Uvis Balinskis (2A). Reinhart extended his point streak to seven games, Greer matched his career-high in goals, Verhaeghe scored for the first time in over a month, and Forsling notched his first of the season in the rout. A feisty Daniil Tarasov made 36 saves to collect his second win as a Panther.
The Flyers had picked up at least a point in seven of eight games (5-1-2) before they were shut out 3-0 by the Tampa Bay Lightning at Benchmark International Arena on Monday. Samuel Ersson stopped 15 of 17 shots to keep his team close, but they could never solve Andrei Vasilevskiy. Newcomer Trevor Zegras leads Philadelphia in scoring with 21 points and is tied with Tyson Foerster for the team lead in goals with seven.
