HANOVER TWP., Pa. – The Hanover Township, Northampton County Board of Supervisors approved 2026 salary increase guidelines Tuesday night at the township building.
Under the guidelines, salaried township employees in the Northampton County “exceeding normal requirements” will garner a 4.5% salary raise, while those “meeting normal requirements” will procure an additional 3.5%. Salaried employees who meet some requirements but not others will receive an additional 2.5% in pay, while those who fail to meet minimum requirements will have no pay increase.
Hourly township employees who exceed normal requirements will make an additional $2 per hour. Normal requirement work will garner an additional $1.75, while those “needing improvement” will receive a $1.50 per hour increase. Those failing to meet minimum requirements will receive no additional pay.
Freshpet Changes
The board accepted the withdrawal of land development plans from Freshpet.
The pet food company has placed a diversion tank addition project on hold and will not be moving forward with the current submission. Freshpet also requested Hanover return escrow funds held in conjunction with the proposal.
Extension Request
Supervisors granted a developer an additional year to formally record a plan.
Arcadia Development Corporation requested to delay filing a preliminary/final land development and lot consolidation plan for 300 Gateway Dr. The plan, approved by the board on March 11, included a deadline that Arcadia would file the plan within 12 months.
Citing “prevailing economic conditions,” Arcadia sought an additional year to formally file the plan, which is March 25, 2027.
Supervisor Retirement
Supervisor John Diacogiannis received a proclamation honoring him prior to his pending retirement after 41 years.
Diacogiannis began on the board in January 1985. During his tenure he served as vice chairman from 2003 through 2005, and as chairman from 2006 through 2021, and 2023. Prior to his position as a supervisor, he served on the township’s planning commission from 1979 through 1984.

In his role as a supervisor, Diacogiannis served on the Lehigh Valley Planning Commission, Colonial Regional Police Commission, and represented the township as a Pennsylvania State Association of Township Supervisors delegate.
He earned a bachelor’s degree from Moravian College in 1971 and a master’s degree from Lehigh University in 1972. His professional career was spent in the finance and risk management sectors. Diacogiannis has lived in Hanover Township since 1973.

Baseball Team
Supervisors granted the Lehigh Little League 8-10-year-old All-Star baseball team a proclamation honoring their championship 2025 season.
The boys earned district, Section 6 and Pennsylvania State championships during the season. The team then advanced and won the Mid-Atlantic Tournament. This victory secured their position in the East Regional Championship, where they defeated South Windsor Connecticut to claim the East Regional title.
County Grant
Northampton County Executive Lamont McClure presented the township with a grant to be utilized by the township community center.
The Grow NORC funds will be used to replace bleachers in the facility. The grant is worth $22,500.
