SOUTH WHITEHALL TWP., Pa. – A Lehigh County church is opening its doors for the community to come and enjoy a home-cooked Thanksgiving meal.
Volunteers at Jordan United Church of Christ in South Whitehall Township are busy preparing to serve hundreds a homecooked meal.
“Last night I was here, I started the first round of turkeys slow roasting over night,” said Dianne Mattias Rodriguez, organizer and church member.
Complete with all the fixings.
“Stuffing, sweet potatoes, mashed potatoes, broccoli, what’d I forget? corn,” said LeAnn Kriner, a church member and volunteer.
Two dozen people came out to the church Wednesday to cook, clean, and set the table for their annual free community Thanksgiving dinner.
“There will be 65 volunteers or more tomorrow,” said Ann Royer, another church member and volunteer.
From 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Thanksgiving day, people can come in to enjoy good food, and even better company.
