PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) — The stars are coming to town for Thursday’s 6abc Dunkin’ Thanksgiving Day Parade, including Maxwell Simkins from ABC’s hit show Shifting Gears.
6abc’s Alicia Vitarelli caught up with Simkins ahead of his big appearance. The Ambler native has been busy filming season 2 of “Shifting Gears” alongside Tim Allen and Bryn Mawr’s own Kat Dennings.
“It’s like a family, almost,” Simkins said. “You all bond so close, and you become like a family, which is funny, because that’s what we play on TV. So, it works. It works.”

When the parade makes its way along the Ben Franklin Parkway, Simkins will ride the route as fans cheer him on.
Vitarelli first interviewed Simkins at 6abc studios 11 years ago when he was just 8 years old and starring in “Love the Coopers,” his first-ever TV interview.
“It was amazing to meet all of these actors and actresses, and then I landed on Disney Channel, and you became a Disney kid, and now an ABC star,” Simkins said.
His credits also include “The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers.” He’s now 19. Alongside his role as Carter on “Shifting Gears,” Simkins is also busy writing his own scripts.
“One of them actually takes place in Philly,” he said. “I’m not gonna give too much away, but it’s actually based on a true story.”
Coverage of the 6abc Dunkin’ Thanksgiving Day Parade begins at 8:30 a.m.
