Thanksgiving holiday closings in the Pittsburgh area
Thanksgiving 2025: What’s open and closed around Pittsburgh for the holiday?
– Here’s my favorite hack for keeping Thanksgiving sides warm while the turkey finishes cooking, use a cooler. Coolers aren’t just for keeping drinks cold, they’re also great for keeping foods warm, at least for a short amount of time. Here’s how to turn yours into a hot box. Step one, preheat the cooler. Before the food goes in, take a bowl of hot, hot water and put it in the cooler. Shut the lid and the steam from the water will preheat your cooler for you. Step two, if you’re layering the foods, make sure to put the hottest foods at the very bottom. Their steam will help keep the food on top warm. Step three, try to fill the cooler up. The less air that’s circulating, the longer the food will stay hot. If you have extra space on top, try to add towels up there to try to bulk out the space. Step four, this might sound obvious, but keep the lid closed. You can’t keep that food warm if the lid is open. This hack will work for up to two hours, but who wants to wait that long anyway? No one wants cold mashed potatoes.
