On the night before Thanksgiving, as families and friends are getting ready to gather and celebrate the holiday, a dispute between two families turned violent in Philadelphia.

Police are investigating the situation after a 28-year-old woman was found suffering from a gunshot wound to her chest.

Officials explained that two families who live next to each other were involved in some type of altercation all day which ultimately led to the woman getting hurt.

Philadelphia Police Chief Inspector Scott Small told NBC10 that officers were called to the 6900 block of Ogontz Avenue just after 5 p.m. on Nov. 26. and found that the scene unfolded across two scenes.

One of the crime scenes was inside a home where police said they found one shell casing.

The second scene was across the street where detectives discovered several shell casings on the sidewalk and a van that was hit by one of the bullets.

Detectives said that they are relying on video evidence from a private surveillance camera to help them figure out who opened fire as they are question two men in connection to this incident.

Officials also said that the woman is in stable condition in the hospital and they are hoping to interview her once she is able to speak to detectives.
