Breezy & brisk Thanksgiving, chills in the teens early Friday in south-central Pennsylvania
Unseasonably chilly weather continues this weekend through the first week of December. We’re watching a few opportunities of unsettled weather in the extended forecast, including a chance of seeing a mix of rain/snow.
CHRISTMAS SHOPPING SEASON. A BLUSTERY AND COLD END TO OUR THANKSGIVING AS WE GO THROUGH THE REST. AS WE GET INTO THE OVERNIGHT PERIOD, WINDS ARE GOING TO BEGIN TO INCREASE OUT OF THE WEST. WE’RE GOING TO HAVE A GUSTY AND COLD BLACK FRIDAY, ESPECIALLY STARTING IN THE MORNING. FOLKS. GUSTS UP TO 40MPH. WE’VE MADE FRIDAY AN IMPACT DAY FOR THE STRONG WINDS AND THOSE WIND CHILLS GETTING INTO THE TEENS AND ALSO THE 20S AND THEN COLD SATURDAY. SO NOT IMPACTING SATURDAY. BUT WE’VE WE’RE IMPACTING SUNDAY FOR MORNING SNOW AND RAIN MIX. BUT THEN TRANSITIONING TO RAIN FOR THE AFTERNOON COULD COULD ALLOW FOR SOME IMPACTS IN TERMS OF YOUR TRAVEL, IN TERMS OF YOUR TRAVEL PLANS THIS EVENING. DECREASING CLOUDS, BREEZY AND BRISK CHILLS GETTING INTO THE 20S WILL DROP DOWN TO ABOUT BETWEEN 32 AND 36 DEGREES. WINDS OUT OF THE WEST ABOUT 10 TO 15MPH. THEN HERE COME THE WINDS. ONE MORE TIME, MOSTLY CLEAR CHILLS INTO THE TEENS TO LOW 20S, GUSTING TO 35MPH. SO IT COULD BE A LITTLE, I WOULD SAY A LITTLE NOISY OVERNIGHT WITH THE WINDS BLOWING IN. BUT THEN ONCE WE GET INTO TOMORROW, WE HAVE AN IMPACT DAY SET FROM 7 A.M. TO 7 P.M. FOR YOUR FRIDAY MORNING CHILLS INTO THE TEENS, AFTERNOON CHILLS INTO THE 20S WHEN YOU FACTOR IN THE TEMPERATURES AND ALSO THE GUSTS. LOOK AT THIS GUSTING TO 40MPH, ESPECIALLY LATER IN THE MORNING INTO THE EARLY AFTERNOON. LET’S LET’S CHAT ABOUT FRIDAY HERE. SO THE TEMPERATURES FACTOR IN THE GUSTS RIGHT. WE’RE GETTING INTO THE LOWER 30S TO START THE MORNING DOWN INTO THE LOW 30S. EVENTUALLY UP TO THE UPPER 30S. BY THE TIME WE MAKE IT TO THE MIDDLE OF THE AFTERNOON. BUT BUT BUT FACTOR IN THE TEMPERATURE AND THE WINDS. THAT’S GOING TO MAKE IT FEEL LIKE THE 20S FOR THE AFTERNOON. BUT THE TEENS TO START YOUR BLACK FRIDAY SHOPPING. SO IF YOU HAPPEN TO BE SHOPPING, FOR ANYTHING, IF YOU’RE IF YOU’RE GOING OUT THERE FOR TOMORROW MORNING, JUST KEEP THIS IN MIND. YOU’RE GOING TO WANT TO MAKE SURE YOU BUNDLE UP AS WE GET INTO THE MORNING. STRONG WINDS ALL DAY FROM 7 A.M. TO 7 P.M., WITH THOSE GUSTS TO 40MPH FEELING LIKE THE TEENS FOR YOUR FRIDAY MORNING AND THE 20S FOR THE AFTERNOON IMPACTS COULD YOU COULD SEE SOME ISOLATED POWER OUTAGES, SOME TREE LIMBS DOWN, AND YOU’RE GOING TO WANT TO MAKE SURE YOU SECURE ANY OF THOSE CHRISTMAS DECORATIONS OUTSIDE. NOW LET’S TALK ABOUT SUNDAY. SUNDAY IS ALSO AN IMPACT DAY FOR THE MORNING. WE’RE EXPECTING TO SEE SOME LIGHT SNOW OR A LIGHT SNOW RAIN MIX. SLIPPERY TRAVEL IS POSSIBLE AS WE’RE GOING TO HAVE TEMPERATURES NEAR THAT FREEZING POINT. GETTING INTO THE AFTERNOON THOUGH, CLOSING IN ON THE AFTERNOON, A WINTRY MIX THEN TRANSITIONING TO RAIN. BUT IN TERMS OF THE HIGHER ELEVATIONS LIKE SOUTH MOUNTAIN, FOR AN EXAMPLE, IF YOU’RE HEADED UP TOWARDS MIFFLIN AND JUNIATA COUNTIES, RIGHT, YOU’RE GOING TO SEE MORE SNOW. SNOW IN THE HIGHER ELEVATIONS. BUT WE’RE GOING TO BEGIN TO WARM TO THE 40S, AND THAT’S GOING TO ALLOW US TO TAPER OR, EXCUSE ME, TO TRANSITION TO ALL RAIN BY SUNDAY EVENING AND FINALLY TAPERING LATE AS WE END OUR AS WE END THE SECOND HALF OF THE WEEKEND, TEMPERATURES INTO THE 30S RIGHT NOW, YOU CAN SEE WINDS OUT OF THE WEST, I’D SAY BETWEEN 10 AND 15MPH STILL HAVE ABOUT AN 18 MILE PER HOUR BREEZE IN CHAMBERSBURG. STORM TEAM LIVE RADAR NETWORK. ALL IS QUIET RIGHT NOW. SEEING SOME LAKE ENHANCED FLURRY ACTION THAT’S COMING OUT FROM THE GREAT LAKES AT THIS TIME, BUT WE’RE GOING TO SEE PARTLY TO MAINLY SUNNY CONDITIONS AS WE GET INTO OUR FRIDAY. YOU CAN SEE SOME CLOUD COVER FOR THE AFTERNOON, BUT THE BIG STORY IS GOING TO BE THE WIND GUSTS AND THOSE WIND CHILLS, FOLKS FEELING COLD AS WE GET INTO OUR FRIDAY. NOT AS WINDY AS WE GET INTO OUR SATURDAY. STILL A LITTLE BREEZY, BUT WE’LL HAVE HIGH PRESSURE SETTLE IN OVERHEAD AND THAT’S GOING TO HELP RELAX OUR WINDS. NOW LET’S CHAT ABOUT SUNDAY. SUNDAY IS ANOTHER IMPACT DAY. YOU CAN SEE AS WE GET INTO THE MORNING THE TIMESTAMP RIGHT AROUND SUNDAY, 8 A.M. SEEING THAT WINTRY MIX. ALSO SOME POTENTIAL SNOW, ESPECIALLY FOR THE HIGHER ELEVATIONS TOWARDS SOUTH MOUNTAIN TOWARDS MIFFLIN AND JUNIATA COUNTIES. ALL RIGHT. BUT THEN ONCE WE GET INTO THE AFTERNOON, YOU SEE THAT WARM FRONT STARTS TO COME THROUGH. THAT’S GOING TO ALLOW FOR RAIN SHOWERS TO OCCUR AS WE GET INTO THE END OF OUR SUNDAY. SO IMPACT DAY FOR YOUR FRIDAY FOR THE STRONG WINDS AND THE WIND CHILLS SATURDAY. NOT TOO BAD. NOT AS WINDY, STILL 40 DEGREES. AND THEN AS WE GET INTO OUR SUNDAY IMPACT DAY FOR THAT CHANCE OF THE WINTRY MIX TUESDAY THOUGH, LOOKING AT A CHANCE OF SOME RAIN AND SNOW ONE MORE TIME,
