Respiratory illnesses are on the rise across Western Pennsylvania.
The latest data from the Pennsylvania Department of Health shows that emergency room visits and hospital admissions for respiratory illnesses, such as COVID, the flu and RSV are increasing. A new variant of the flu, called H3, has now been confirmed in the Pittsburgh region, causing symptoms such as cough, fever, sore throat and body aches.
As always, residents are urged to stay up to date on vaccinations and practice good hygiene habits, such as washing hands.
