According to Palestinian reports, radical Israeli settlers have injured ten Palestinians in an attack in the West Bank. One woman was hit by a shot from a settler’s gun, the Palestinian aid organization Red Crescent announced. She is being treated in a hospital. Several other people were injured by blows during the attack in a village near the city of Bethlehem, three of whom were also taken to hospital.

The Israeli military said on request that they were investigating the report.

Since the beginning of the Gaza war more than two years ago, there has been increasing violence by radical settlers against Palestinians in the occupied West Bank. The Israeli army is repeatedly accused of not taking decisive enough action against such attackers. There are only rare reports of settlers being brought to justice after attacks.

Israel conquered the West Bank and East Jerusalem in the 1967 Six-Day War. Today, around 700,000 Israeli settlers live there among three million Palestinians.
