PennDOT maintenance crews will conduct road work at multiple locations across Lehigh County from Monday, Dec. 1 through Saturday Dec. 6, with most work scheduled during daytime hours and requiring lane restrictions.
Crack sealing operations will affect the most roadways during the first week of December.
Work will begin Dec. 1 on Walnut Street in Macungie Borough between Route 100 and Brookside Road from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. That same day, crews will start a five-day crack sealing project on Route 29 between the Berks County line and Cedar Crest Boulevard in Lower Macungie and Upper Milford townships.
Several roads in Upper Macungie Township face extended crack sealing work from Dec. 1 through Dec. 5, including Mertztown Road between Weilers Road and the county line, Brookdale Road between Spring Creek Road and Butz Road, and Butz Road between Mertztown Road and Route 222. All three projects will create lane restrictions with flagging from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Additional crack sealing is scheduled for Macungie Mountain Road in Lower Macungie Township from Dec. 2 to Dec. 3, Spinnerstown Road in Lower Milford Township on Dec. 4, and Trexlertown Road in Lower Macungie Township on Dec. 5.
On Route 222 in Upper Macungie Township between Routes 863 and 100, crews will implement lane restrictions in both directions from Dec. 3 through Dec. 5.
Bridge repair work will take place on two roads. Limeport Pike in Lower Milford Township between Spinnerstown Road and Elementary Road will have lane restrictions with flagging from Dec. 1 to Dec. 2.
Ziegels Church Road in Weisenberg Township between Old Route 22 and Seipstown Road will undergo repairs from Dec. 3 to Dec. 5 without restrictions.
Brush cutting operations begin Dec. 1 on Church Street in Washington Township between Route 873 and Mountain Road, continuing through Dec. 3 with lane restrictions.
The Route 378 ramp at Eighth Avenue in Bethlehem will have lane shifting for brush cutting from Dec. 4 to Dec. 5. Route 222 North in Upper Macungie Township between Cetronia Road and Route 100 will see brush cutting from Dec. 3 to Dec. 5 with no restrictions.
The only nighttime work scheduled is pothole patching on Interstate 78 between Exit 49 at Route 100 and the Northampton County line. Crews will create lane restrictions in both directions from 8 p.m. to midnight from Dec. 1 through Dec. 6 in Upper Macungie, South Whitehall, Salisbury, and Upper Saucon townships.
PennDOT indicated that rain will not cause delays to any of the scheduled projects.
