READING, Pa – It means more opportunities to travel out of the area.

“We’re super excited about this for us as a business. We are here trying to connect to people,” said Francesca La Brecque Waldman with FlixBus.

The company already serves New York City, Los Angeles and Dallas and now you can add Reading to that list.

“We’ve been really appreciative to work with the South Central Transit Authority, so we’re connecting with them at the BARTA Transportation Center,” she said.

It’s called FlixBus and the company is launching new service connecting Reading to Philadelphia, Newark and New York City, in addition to other places.

“On the 22nd, we’ll also be offering connections into Allentown and Aston, Malvern, Philadelphia, New Jersey,” she said.

What’s the experience like on the bus?

“You scan when you get on. You have an assigned, comfortable seat on a nice bus. You have a window or an aisle seat,” La Brecque Waldman said.

The buses also have charging stations and with the mobile app, you can track your bus in real time.

The new service comes after Amtrak ended bus service between Reading and Philadelphia in March, and it joins OurBus in offering bus service to New York and Philadelphia.

FlixBus says it’s looking forward to serving the City of Reading.

“We’ve been looking for a while to expand our service in Pennsylvania and for the most part, Philly and Pittsburgh are the two big cities we’ve been serving,” she added.
