Richard James Davidson, 79, of Dunmore, died peacefully Friday night at home surrounded by his wife and children.  His wife is the former Ellen Jordan.

Born in Dunmore, the son of the late Walter and Catherine O’Hora Davidson, he is a graduate of St. Paul’s High School.  He furthered his education at the University of Scranton receiving an undergraduate degree in Accounting as well as an MBA.  He spent the majority of his career as a Vice President in hospital administration at Mercy Hospital in Scranton and retired from Goodwill Industries as CFO.  Some of his favorite times were spent with friends at the YMCA, golfing at the Elmhurst Country Club, and running around Lake Scranton and  the Dunmore Cemetery.  He was especially proud to have completed the 1979 NYC Marathon alongside his longtime friend, Tim Foley.  He spent countless hours watching his grandchildren play sports.  But, most of all, he loved his summer vacations with his wife, children, and grandchildren on the beaches of Ocean City, MD, and the Outer Banks.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by their children, Mari Woodton and husband, Eric, Philadelphia; Brian Davidson and wife, Lisa, Mountaintop; Anne Kennell, Scranton; and Mary Ellen Barrett and husband, Michael, Dunmore; ten grandchildren, Jordan and Jonathan Woodton; Alexis, Casey, Emily, and Brady Davidson; Ryan and Allie Kennell; and Patrick and Brian Barrett; his sister, Mary Donahue and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Family and friends may pay their respects at Immaculate Conception Church, Taylor Ave., Scranton, on Friday from 8:45-9:45 a.m. with Mass of Christian Burial beginning promptly at 10 a.m.

Interment to follow in Dunmore Cemetery.
