A large water main break Wednesday afternoon sent water gushing onto a street in Center City Allentown.
The 12-inch water main break was reported about 1 p.m. in the area of 13th and Liberty streets, Lehigh County Authority spokesperson Susan Sampson said.
The break was initially thought to be at a 30-inch main because one runs parallel to the 12-inch one, she said.
Once crews got to the area, they determined it was the smaller main. North 13th Street between Liberty and Gordon streets will be closed until restoration can be completed, she said, which is expected to happen Thursday.
Two businesses, one of which is a daycare, were affected, Sampson said.
Photos posted on social media showed water flowing in the street and police vehicles in the area.
