Margaret Havrilko Roditski
OBITUARY
Margaret Havrilko Roditski, 96, Old Forge, died Saturday, November 29, 2025, at Elan Skilled Nursing & Rehab, Scranton, peacefully in her sleep. Her husband of 70 years was the late John Roditski. Born in the Bellevue section of Scranton, she was the youngest of 7 children of the late William and Catherine Havrilko. She was a graduate of West Scranton High School and was employed at the former Ukrainian Fraternal Insurance Association and before that at the Waiten Bond Company.
She was preceded in death by her sisters, Anna Knott, Helen Domuracki, Mary Jedju and Catherine Roditski, and her brothers, Michael and Alex Havrilko. She is survived by her son John and daughter, Kathryn Roditski Dilozir, son in law, Taras Dilozir, and granddaughter Laryssa and grandson John; as well as many nieces and nephews. Margaret was a loving and supportive wife, mother and grandmother.
She was a lifetime member of Saint Michael’s Ukrainian Orthodox Church. She loved her church and its members. She was a board member for 15 years serving as treasurer, was a member of the church choir for over 40 years and was the president of St. Marys Sisterhood for 45 years. In 2019, she was awarded the St. Andrew medal of honor for her devotion to her church by the Metropolitan Antony and Bishop Daniel. She was also very active in her community where she was a Girl Scout Leader, President of the PTA at Washington Irving #12 Elementary School and the secretary of the United Neighborhood Centers. She enjoyed league bowling with her husband and neighbors. Margaret and her husband were members of the Taylor Senior Center and enjoyed all the activities with her many friends.
Viewing for family and friends will be on Wednesday, 3 to 6:30 pm, with a Parastas Service beginning at 6:30 PM, by the Rev. Philip Harendza in the Edward J. Chomko Funeral Home & Cremation Services LLC, 262 Railroad Ave., West Scranton. A Funeral Service will be celebrated on Thursday, at 10 AM, by the Reverand Father Philip Harendza, Pastor of St. Michael’s Ukrainian Orthodox Church, 540 North Main Ave., Scranton.
Interment will follow at St. Michael’s Parish Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to St. Michael’s Ukrainian Orthodox Church, 540 North Main Avenue, Scranton, PA 18504.
