PHILADELPHIA — Shots were fired during a road rage incident on Interstate 95 in Philadelphia, injuring a passenger in one of the involved vehicles, Pennsylvania State Police said.

The shooting happened at about 7:12 a.m. Sunday on I-95 north near Cottman Avenue in Philadelphia.

According to authorities, the driver of a Brown Honda CRV and the driver of a silver Honda Accord were involved in a road rage incident at that time.

The Accord’s driver fired multiple rounds from a semi-automatic pistol towards the CRV, police said. The CRV was hit by gunfire several times, and a passenger in the vehicle was struck once in the arm, according to police.

The CRV went to Jefferson Torresdale hospital, where the victim was treated for a gunshot wound to their shoulder.

Investigators found the silver Honda Accord outside a residence on the 4300 block of Sheffield Street at about 8:50 a.m. Sunday. There, they detained a man and woman and executed search warrants on their residence and vehicle.

During the searches, investigators found evidence related to the shooting, police said.

The male was taken into custody and charges of attempted homicide and related offenses are pending.

Part of I-95 was closed until about 11:45 a.m. during the investigation.
