The Baltimore Ravens have signed former Pittsburgh Steelers running back Jonathan Ward to the practice squad ahead of their clash on Sunday.

Ward was with the New England Patriots for a time but they released him. He tried out with the Ravens on Monday and promptly signed on Tuesday.

Ward spent most of last season with the team on the practice squad, but was called up from the practice squad for four games as a special teamer. He was cut from the team in June.

Ward played in four games for the Steelers, mostly on special teams. He put up five rushes for 22 yards on the season, with much of his playing time coming when injuries racked up in the room.

Ward was signed by the Steelers after a rookie minicamp tryout. Known more for his speed and veteran presence, he had an impressive training camp despite suffering a hamstring injury, and that allowed him to make the practice squad.

Ward, an undrafted free agent out of Central Michigan in the 2020 NFL Draft, has played with the Arizona Cardinals. New York Jets, and Tennessee Titans in the past.
