BERKS COUNTY, Pa. – As the snow began to fall Tuesday, it looked like a peaceful winter wonderland.

But that early morning snow made for tricky traveling conditions, leading to some crashes along roads in Berks County.

Plows were out and about working to clear the roadways as the weather transitioned to rain, turning the snow on the ground into slush.

For many kids, the snow day came as a welcome surprise, extending the Thanksgiving break and giving them some time to get out and enjoy the winter weather.

Some even helped with the cleanup.

“The kids all had shovels, so they took care of a lot of it. We’ll be out to do more later, but they did a good job,” said Meredith Weisman, who lives in Wyomissing.
