The first snow of the season moved through Northeastern and Central Pennsylvania Tuesday, leaving many to clean up after the system came through.

DANVILLE, Pa. — The first snow has moved out of Central Pennsylvania and left a couple of inches behind in many of the counties. In Danville borough, about two inches of snow stuck to the ground after the system moved out around noon on Tuesday. Many people in the neighborhoods were out and tackling the cleanup by shoveling.

“Well, I did the sidewalk probably 10 a.m., I thought maybe it would warm up enough it would melt, and I wouldn’t have to shovel. I figured the good Lord put it there, the good Lord could take it away, but that didn’t happen today,” said Dick Umstead, Danville.

It was not just neighborhoods digging out; it was businesses, too. Derl Reichard Auto Sales in the borough was busy clearing inventory off their lot and also clearing the lot by plow.

“I’ve got cars to clear off, snow to move, and there’s nothing in it for me except work. It’s not like someone is coming in to do it for you and getting paid; my son and I do it. It’s still fun, but it’s not. Once maybe is enough, two or three gets old really fast,” said Reichard, Derl Reichard Auto Sales Owner.

Although this is only the first snowfall of the season, some people are already tired of it and want it to go away, while others are looking forward to another one.

“As a matter of fact, I don’t care anymore, but it’s kind of like disappointing because when we were kids, every time it snowed we always got like five, seven, eight, fifteen inches, every time, now it’s just diddly squat stuff,” said John McAllister, Danville.

The snow that fell in Central Pennsylvania was more wet and heavy, meaning that for many it was better to use a shovel than a snow blower to clear it up. Many say the temperature made the snow clean-up bearable to deal with.

“The air’s temperature is perfect, the wind is not blowing. If the wind was blowing really hard, I would hate it completely because you’re so cold, but this here is pretty good,” said Reichard.

The good news is that the Stormtracker 16 weather team says there are no snowstorms in the forecast at least up until Monday.Â
