Plenty of homemade goodies were made in Washington County this past weekend as bakers lined up in an attempt to set a world record. Organized by the “Wedding Cookie Table Community” group on Facebook, bakers gathered to set a record for the world’s largest Christmas cookie exchange. Pittsburgh’s Action News 4 was there at the Washington County Fairgrounds on Sunday, where thousands of cookies were put on display and team members exchanged with one another. “A lot of the planning was done remotely through Zoom and telephone calls,” organizer Laura Magone told Pittsburgh’s Action News 4. “A lot of our members met today for the very first time and came together to put these fabulous tables together. They are fabulous, and they should be patted on the back.” As of now, there is no world record, so this was the first attempt. Magone said about 80,000 cookies were exchanged Sunday.
