A 26-year-old hunter died on Tuesday morning after being shot during a deer drive in Juniata County. The victim was part of a 24-member deer hunting group in Milford Township. He and other “drivers” were working their way to a line of waiting hunters, in an effort to push deer their way, when a buck jumped up and broke back through the line of drivers. Two drivers fired shots at the buck, and the victim was struck in the hip by one of the shots, according to Travis Lau with the Pennsylvania Game Commission. Lau says the commission responded to the scene around 8:50 a.m., and the victim was transported to the hospital by ambulance. He did not survive his injuries. The victim’s name has not yet been released. No charges have been filed, and the incident is still under investigation.
