OBITUARY
Melvin S. Kauffman, 84, of Carlisle, passed away on Saturday, November 29, 2025, at home with his Wife, Spiritual companion and Best friend for 32 years by his side. He was born on September 19, 1941, in Paradise, Lancaster County and was a son of the late Amos and Priscilla (Stoltzfus) Kauffman.
Mel owned and operated with his brother, Omar & Mel Kauffman’s Plastering & Stucco business in Lancaster and Reading. He was a member of Green Spring Brethren in Christ Church, Newville. Mel Had a passion for breeding, raising, training, racing, buying and selling Beautiful Sulky Race Horses!
He is survived by his devoted wife Kallie (Graham) Kauffman, one son Melvin S. Kauffman, Jr, two daughters, Barbara May and Sandra Kauffman, one stepson Matt Snyder and companion Bobbi Cushman, one stepdaughter Steph Snyder and companion Jared Volker, 11 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren, two brothers, Levi (Nancy) and John (Sandy) Kauffman and one sister Anna Stoltzfus and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by brothers, Daniel, Jacob, Omar (Betty) and Samuel (Mary) Kauffman and sisters, Mattie Stoltzfus and Katie Beiler.
A viewing will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, December 8, 2025, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. in the Green Spring Brethren in Christ Church, 720 Green Spring Road, Newville, PA 17241. Rev. Ralph Fisher will officiate the service. The burial will be in Forest Hills Memorial Park in Reading, PA on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. with a viewing from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. in the chapel.
