Erie County Executive-Elect Christina Vogel announced today the appointment of Chris Groner as her incoming Director of Administration, citing his extensive experience in public service and economic development.
“Chris Groner’s decades of public service and track record in responsible fiscal management and economic development make him the ideal choice to help move Erie County forward,” Vogel said. “His knowledge, expertise, and collaborative approach will strengthen our internal operations and deliver real results Erie County residents can see and feel.”
Groner brings more than 20 years of experience serving the City of Erie in key leadership roles, including Director of the Office of Development Services and Director of the Department of Economic and Community Development. In these positions, he managed public financing tools for development projects and oversaw code enforcement and zoning operations. Groner also served as a Logistics Officer in the U.S. Navy Reserve and holds a bachelor’s degree in finance from Penn State Behrend.
He will officially assume his new role on Jan. 5, 2026.
