A Conneaut Lake Regional Police officer was seriously injured early Thursday morning while responding to a domestic dispute on West Erie Street.
According to authorities, Officer Landon Caldwell arrived at the scene around 4 a.m. when Adam Mitchell exited a nearby laundromat and aggressively approached him. Mitchell allegedly struck Caldwell with his fist, prompting the officer to tackle him to the ground. During the ensuing struggle, Mitchell reportedly stabbed Caldwell with a knife, causing severe injuries.
Despite his injuries, Caldwell managed to restrain Mitchell until additional officers arrived. Caldwell was transported by ambulance to Meadville Medical Center and later transferred to UPMC Hamot Trauma Center for further treatment. His condition has not been released.
Mitchell was medically cleared at Meadville Medical Center before being taken to the Crawford County Correctional Facility. He faces multiple charges, including Attempted Homicide, Aggravated Assault, and Terroristic Threats. An arraignment is pending.
