Aug. 11 UPDATE: 

A man has been charged in the shooting at Sizzling Bites restaurant that injured two people Friday, according to court documents.

Ashton Jordan Thomas, of Stewartsville, New Jersey, faces multiple counts of simple assault, aggravated assault and reckless endangerment of other people. He also has been charged with carrying a firearm without a license and two counts of attempted homicide, according to his docket.

According to The Morning Call, surveillance footage showed Thomas had gotten into an argument with a group of people outside of the South Side restaurant. After Thomas was slapped by a man in the group, Thomas fired a handgun from his pocket five times and fled the scene with two other people, the article stated. 

Bethlehem police saw Thomas get into a vehicle with a New Jersey registration in nearby surveillance footage. A Phillipsburg detective then identified Thomas after investigators contacted them for information, according to the article.

No arrest date has been listed for Thomas as of the time of publication.

Two people were injured shortly after midnight today in a shooting at Sizzling Bites restaurant located on the 300 block of East Third Street, according to a Lehigh Valley Live article.

According to the article, Captain Nicholas Lechman of the Bethlehem Police Department said gunfire erupted inside the restaurant. He said officers found one adult at the scene with gunshot wounds who was taken to a nearby hospital, and a second adult, also with gunshot wounds, arrived at the hospital in a private vehicle. 

Both victims were in stable condition Friday morning. No other injuries were reported, though multiple individuals were inside at the time of the shooting, according to the article.

Lechman also said no arrests have been made at this time. 

In a voicemail correspondence with The Brown and White, Bethlehem Police Chief Michelle Kott said there is no new information the department is releasing at this time.

“It still remains a very active investigation on our point,” Kott said.
