Build-N-Athlete donated 25 pairs of shoes to the Scranton High Junior Varsity Wrestling team.
SCRANTON, Pa. — A nonprofit is giving back to a high school wrestling program in Lackawanna County.
Build-N-Athlete donated 25 pairs of shoes to the Scranton High Junior Varsity Wrestling team, totaling more than $1,000.Â
The nonprofit’s founders say financial barriers can often prevent children from participating in sports, and they are committed to making the activity accessible for everyone.
“And it’s really been cool to see just the impact you’re having on young athletes. A lot times, they just need confidence, and that’s what equates with equipment,” said Jon Casey, Build-N-Athlete, Co-founder. “You know, if you give them something that’s new and that’s their own, they take ownership of that, and you really see that develop.”
The wrestling shoes were dropped off today at Scranton High and will be distributed to team members later.Â
