SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA CO. (WOLF) — The Scranton Area Community Foundation, an organization that serves NEPA as a steward of charitable resources and a catalyst for positive change, hosted its annual Community Celebration to honor individuals and organizations that have made a significant impact on the well-being of Lackawanna County and beyond.
The annual banquet has been a tradition for more than twenty years; however, this marks the first time the event is being hosted at the Foundation’s new home on Jefferson Avenue.
The year-end celebration unites donors and nonprofit leaders to share stories of the impact made possible through charitable giving.
Laura Ducceschi, President & CEO of the Scranton Area Community Foundation, says the banquet is designed to recognize individuals and organizations that have helped strengthen the community, because without their support, services like Code Blue shelters and local food pantries would not be what they are today.
“I think it’s really important to tell the story of the people that are making a difference every year, because there are a lot of organizations working behind the scenes to make sure that we have a Code Blue in effect, to make sure that the food pantries in our communities are getting enough resources to support hungry families, to support all of the important organizations that are making a difference,” said Ducceschi.
Beyond celebrating past achievements, organizers highlighted their vision for the year ahead, sharing plans to strengthen partnerships and expand programs that address critical needs in the community.
