A 36-year-old Taylor man faces charges after police said he threatened to kill Scranton public officials — including cops and the city’s mayor — and blow up government buildings.

On Monday, Scranton officers were informed of the threats made by Derek Greenfield on his Facebook and Snapchat accounts, police said.

Police received screenshots of two posts from Greenfield’s Facebook page in which threatening comments were written, officers said.

A portion of one post included the following: “There’s two Scranton pigs that I am … marking, and I’m going to … kill their whole … family,” according to a criminal complaint.

In the post, Greenfield also threatened to destroy city buildings and kill city officials, stating in part, “I’m going to … blow up all the … government buildings I can in Scranton until … they catch me. I will … commit murder left and right, and I will start … with government officials, Scranton Mayor … and cops,” per the criminal complaint.

Greenfield also posted on Facebook and Snapchat about running red lights while driving through Scranton streets, police said.

In the Snapchat videos also shared with officers, Greenfield threatened to kill officers (“pigs”) and run someone over to get the police’s attention, according to the criminal complaint.

Police charged Greenfield, 7 Roosevelt St., with terrorism and terroristic threats.

As of Thursday, Greenfield remained in Lackawanna County Prison as bail was denied. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Dec. 16 at 10:45 a.m.
