EASTON, Pa. – Northampton County Council approved a budget with no property tax increase at its Thursday night meeting.
It is the eighth consecutive budget without an increase, according to a news release from the county.
Records indicate that since at least 1961, Northampton County has never experienced an eight-year period without a tax increase, the county said.
“From the beginning, I promised to end the over-taxation of the people of Northampton County,” said County Executive Lamont G. McClure.
“Eight straight years without a tax increase, and a tax cut that returned $25 million to our residents, shows that we kept that promise.”
