Following their two state championship bids at Aurora Sports Park last month, it came as no surprise that Broomfield and Holy Family softball led the BoCoPreps coverage area with CHSAA all-state nominations.
In Class 5A, Broomfield’s Ireland Heer — the CHSAA and Daily Camera player of the year — led the first team selections with her 18-1 record and 1.62 ERA. Her performance helped push the Eagles to a 17-7 victory in the state championship game. Kale Gilmore, naturally, won CHSAA’s coach of the year honors.
Lilly Smith (.515 batting average) also made her way onto first team for Broomfield, followed by Avery Gines (.435), Lauren Martinez (.500) and Kiley Wheaton (.409) on second team.
Fairview’s Julia Savage, who was ranked 29th in the nation with 12 home runs, also made first team.
Monarch’s Kate Church, Erie’s Braelen Heer and Sydnie Snook and Legacy’s Prisca Smolens all made honorable mention.
In 4A, after a masterful performance that led her team to a 7-4 state championship victory, Holy Family’s Emmaline Humphreys won the 4A CHSAA player of the year with a 19-4 record and .81 ERA. Her coach, Moriah Nguyen joined her with that top honor.
The Tigers also saw first-team nods from Giuliana Magnetti (.325 average) and Jaelyn Sandoval (.465), while Dalynn O’Blia earned honorable mention. Frederick saw the lone local appearance on 4A second team from Elayna Fisher (19-8 record, 4.37 ERA), then enjoyed two honorable mentions for Brealea Stendel and Ella Stromberg.
Centaurus’ Charlotte Crim, Mead’s Halie Gippe, Rosie Robuck and Ari Tovar, Niwot’s Anna Halverson and May Herrera all made honorable mention.
In 3A, Lyons’ Gretta Wynja — the Times-Call player of the year — earned a first-team spot thanks to her sterling .513 batting average and 1.81 ERA through 143.1 innings. Ava Vasquez (.457 average) joined her through second team, while Dahlia Oviatt made honorable.
Jefferson Academy’s Ellie Arnold and Chloe Mooney Peak to Peak’s Haley Haskins, Karina Lefort, Margot McCune and Grace Trasky rounded out the local contingent with honorable mention.
