A woman has been charged, officials said, for her suspected role in the death of a 34-year-old woman who was found dead in an Atlantic City, New Jersey, home on October 11, 2025.

According to police, on Wednesday night, Ceani Barnes, 22, of Atlantic City, New Jersey, was charged with aggravated manslaughter in connection with the death of Christina Burdette, also of Atlantic City.

Officials did not immediately detail how Barnes came to the attention of investigators.

Burdette was found unresponsive at a home along the 2000 block of Sheridan Avenue in Atlantic City, NJ, at about 10:08 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 11, 2025.

She was later pronounced at the scene.

Officials said that an autopsy determined Burdette died due to complications from “multiple blunt force trauma injuries with chronic abuse.”

Her death, police said, has been ruled a homicide.

An investigation into this case is still ongoing, police said.
