BENSALEM TOWNSHIP, PA — The Police Chiefs Association of Southeastern Pennsylvania gathered this past week to hear an interesting presentation: The FBI agent who interrogated Saddam Hussein.

The presentation at the ExCite Center was by retired FBI Special Agent George Piro, who shared “powerful insights” from his extensive interviews and offered a rare behind-the-scenes look at the psychological challenges he encountered throughout the months-long interview process.

Just as impactful were the leadership lessons drawn from the tragic events surrounding the murder of two FBI agents in Miami while executing a search warrant in 2021. That tragedy occurred while Piro oversaw the FBI’s Miami Field Office.

“This was a stark reminder of the risks law enforcement faces and the critical importance of preparation, teamwork, and resilience,” Bensalem Police said.

Over 250 law enforcement members attended the presentation, which also featured David Metcalf, the U.S. Attorney of the Eastern District of Pennsylvania.

Metcalf spoke about the importance of partnerships among local, state, and federal agencies, his support for local law enforcement, and his office’s willingness to assist us with investigations.
